Normally, HomeUX works as a client/server application:
- The user interface (a Silverlight application) runs in a browser,
or on a touch screen that's a secondary monitor on a Windows
PC.
- The home control server runs on any Windows PC in the home.
The is a bit different—the
entire demo runs within the browser (as a Silverlight application),
including:
- a user interface—designed for a touch screen, but it works on
a regular screen;
- the full HomeUX home control server;
- a set of HomeUX-compatible drivers;
- a set of hardware simulators—the HomeUX drivers control this
simulated hardware instead of real hardware.
When the simulator launches, you'll see a yellow hourglass in the
top-right corner until initialization of simulated hardware is complete.
